Uses
Aids control of sweet itch in horses and donkeys.
Dosage and administration
Switch is a ready-to-use solution that should be applied at the rate of 1 ml per 10 kg bodyweight to a maximum of 40 ml.

Switch should be applied using the calibrated dispensing chamber incorporated into the applicator bottle. Apply the measured dose in approximately equal portions to the mane and rump avoiding the saddle area. (Take care to avoid eye contact. The product must not be applied forward of the ears.)
Treatment should be started at the beginning of the sweet itch season and should be repeated as necessary - treatment once weekly should be sufficient for most horses. If horses and donkeys are to be groomed, apply Switch after grooming.
Contra-indications, warnings, etc
Take care to avoid eye contact. The product must not be applied forward of the ears. In case of accidental splashing into the horse's eye, the affected eye should be washed thoroughly and immediately with copious quantities of clear water and veterinary attention sought. Do not treat the saddle area.
Operator warnings
Wear protective clothing, rubber gloves and boots when applying the product. Wash splashes from skin and eyes immediately. When using the product do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands and exposed skin before eating, drinking or smoking and after work. (Care should be taken when applying the product as it may have an adverse effect on certain plastics.) Use in a well ventilated area.
Protection of consumers
Not to be administered to horses and donkeys intended for human consumption.
Undesirable effects
A few horses, particularly those of the fine skinned Arab type, may react adversely to treatment with the product. In such individuals a small patch test at the base of the neck 24 hours before use is recommended. If adverse reaction occurs, treatment should be stopped immediately. Any resulting skin irritation or skin reaction is short lived.
Environmental warnings
Dangerous to fish. Do not contaminate ponds, waterways and ditches with the product or used container. Wash out container thoroughly and dispose of safely.

Store in original container tightly closed in a safe place. Keep out of reach of children. For animal treatment only. For external use only.

Further information
As with all insecticides, the degree of fly-killing and repellent activity afforded by Switch is influenced by prevailing weather conditions and species of flies involved. Sweet itch is believed to be caused by hypersensitivity to the bites of flying insects eg Culicoides spp. It may be appropriate for owners to seek veterinary advice in severe cases of sweet itch.
